Bobby Deol’s ‘Bandar’ locks May 22 release, Anurag Kashyap promises intense drama

Bobby Deol is all set to return to the big screen with a new intense drama. The actor’s upcoming film Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap, will arrive in theatres worldwide on May 22, 2026.

The announcement has already started building curiosity, especially after Deol’s recent run of strong performances that reminded audiences of his range.

A different shade of Bobby Deol

Over the past few years, Bobby Deol has quietly rebuilt his screen image with powerful roles. With Bandar, he is expected to step into yet another unfamiliar space.

Backed by a strong creative team

The film is being produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, with Zee Studios supporting the project.

The screenplay is of the writing duo Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, who are known for crafting grounded and tightly written stories.  Their writing has only added to the expectations around the film’s narrative depth.

Early global attention

Even before its theatrical release, Bandar has managed to grab attention internationally. The film was screened under the Special Presentation category at the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025.

The premiere reportedly drew interest from global viewers as well as industry insiders, giving the project an early boost.

Ensemble cast adds weight

Apart from Bobby Deol, the film features a strong supporting lineup including Sanya Malhotra, Raj B Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Sapna Pabbi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Riddhi Sen and Nagesh Bhosale in key roles.

With a mix of strong performers and an intense theme, Bandar is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched releases of the season.
